In the current issue of 'The Garden', the RHS report that the Chelsea Flower show, which runs from 20th to 23rd May this year, has a record 64 gardens and that many of them 'have an environmentally friendly theme'.

April 9th 2003Threat from invasive non-native garden plants reviewed

On 28th March, Plantlife International, The Garden Centre Association, Gardening Which?, Horticultural Trade Association, Ornamental Aquatic Trade Association and Royal Horticultural Society issued a joint statement in support of the Department of Environment Food and Rural Affairs' Non-Native Species Review Group. The group was established to evaluate the threat to the UK's native biodiversity from introduced invasive species.

April 3rd 2003Alan Titchmarsh focuses on wildlife in the garden

The recently completed BBC2 series How to Be a Gardener 2 concluded with a programme on April 3rd billed as The Natural Garden. The fourth programme in the series (screened on 27th February), entitle The Water Garden featured the creation of a pond very much along the currently recommended design for a wildlife-friendly pond.
